A recent survey by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon has revealed some intriguing insights into the plans of institutional investors regarding cryptocurrency allocations. Here’s a closer look at the key findings:

Coinbase Survey: Institutional Investors Bullish on Crypto

A new survey by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon found that 83% of institutional investors plan to expand their allocations to cryptocurrency this year. The research polled 352 institutional decision-makers in January and found growing confidence in digital assets as regulatory clarity improves and broader use cases emerge. A majority of respondents intend to allocate more than 5% of their assets under management (AUM) to crypto in 2025, signaling its shift from a niche investment to a key portfolio component. This trend follows a strong 2024 for the crypto market, with rising adoption of stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), and tokenized assets.

XRP More Popular Than Solana Among Institutions: Coinbase, EY Report

A report published by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon on Tuesday revealed that institutional investors surveyed were more likely to own XRP than Solana in January. Among 352 respondents worldwide, 34% had allocated to the Ripple Labs-linked token compared to 30% for Solana. Bitcoin and Ethereum were widely held, while 25% of institutional investors also owned Dogecoin. The report noted that a majority of institutional investors held just one or two cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, which U.S. investors can easily get exposure to through exchange-traded funds launched last year.
